The Flyboards 2011 promotional shoot is definitely the most unique project I ever did. Together with board shaper Eddy Lansink I flew down to Ningbo near Shanghai in China. Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity. The first few days I experienced some culture shocks.
The first week we stayed in a hotel near the factory where the Flyboards are produced. We shot a video about the work that is put into the production of these boards. It was really impressive to see how the boards are made.
After a week we flew out to Hong Kong and stayed on the island Cheung Chau for eight days. Here we shot the interviews for the board videos, shot some photos, and recorded all the action shots we needed for the promotional videos.
China was one of the craziest and most impressive trips I've been on. Christmas in a Chinese karaoke bar in Ningbo and new years' in Hong Kong! What an experience!
At the end we cut together four interview videos and a video about the production, we had over 200 photo's for the magazines and I designed two advertisements which got published in several magazine titles.
